- There’s no question that social media is a R-Evolution. Apps and platforms change faster than a chameleon changes colors. People I talk with are struggling to keep up. The question I get asked most often at conferences and workshops is, “well, I know that works for _________________ (fill in the blank with a big corporate name), but I don’t see how that would work for me.”
- As the stock trades, investors will learn to Like Facebook as long as Mark and Co. continue to perform for those very investors who may or may not actually have a Facebook account and who may or may not even understand the future of media or the evolution of the human network. Zuckerberg has made it clear that he intends to spend his time, energy and that of his team to run Facebook “the hacker way.”...
- They announce that Bing will transform its interface to a layout in three separate panes, featuring traditional text results, results from specific information sources and services, and results related to your social-network friends. Sounds a little like Tweetdeck meets search.

- Word to the wise: if you are a business- FOLLOW YOUR FOLLOWERS. You might think you look like some kind of star to have a few thousand folks following you (whereas you follow about four people), but what does that say to your followers?
- I would argue that without participation in social media your SEO and search effort is working at 50%. If you think sophisticated audiences aren’t using social, then think again. Over 5 million high networth investors use LinkedIn. According to a Hubspot 2011 survey of 611 advisors, 61% said they had landed a new client directly from LinkedIn.

- Pepsi has recognized that the tech-enabled power shift to the consumer has effectively neutralized many traditional forms of outbound, or push, marketing. Today’s savvy consumer wants to be listened to and courted by marketers. They want direct channels of communication to brands. In short, consumers expect brands to employ inbound marketing best practices as an engagement model.
- As a community manager, analytics act as our compass, our teacher, our friend. When Facebook increased their insights, at first we all groaned at deciphering the insanely filled excel downloads, but now knowing every detail about our pages leaves us feeling empowered. Thank you Facebook for giving these to us. For free. (Hint hint, nudge nudge Twitter).
