- Or could GM’s move be, as some insiders are theorizing, a result of Google recognizing the advertising competition with Facebook and luring companies away, perhaps with the promise of free ads? Either way, it’s a significant loss for Facebook. But is it really about just Facebook ads and GM?

- Should the timing of GM’s announcement affect Facebook’s IPO? Will it? Should it even matter? I seem to recall an auto industry bailout that put the U.S. economy into a downward spiral. I don’t recall reading that Facebook ever strayed from its growth goals, so why should it quake in its boots because GM is playing chess? (Although $10 million is likely not chump change to Facebook.)

- As a social media platform, it is an epic fail. However, as far as SEO goes Google+ has greatly influenced the results of its searches. By logging into your Google+ account, any pages or anyone in your circles has a higher chance of popping up in the “related people/pages” bar when you search in Google.
- Microsoft Bing is revamping its search engine to include a sidebar to enable you to obtain recommendations from users of Facebook when making a search on Bing. It is not just Facebook but they are planning to include many other networks.

- A number of British celebrities have been promoting the Snickers chocolate bar on Twitter recently. The general theme of the campaign is that people don't act like themselves until they've had their Snickers fix, so the celebs would tweet a few unusual messages, followed by a final tweet with a photo of them eating a Snickers and revealing the cause of their peculiar behaviour.
